The Jerusalem Season of Culture gathers hundreds of visual artists, DJs, chefs and artists from other genres, to draw inspiration from Jerusalem’s complexities, divides and layers and create something that taps into the deeper sides of Jerusalem and the lives of the people here.
All events that are part of Jerusalem Season of Culture are unique to Jerusalem’s ambiance, style and different layers. These events could scarcely work outside of Jerusalem and they give expression to a creative, sophisticated, artistic, social and humanist statement that is enjoyed by many every year.

MEKUDESHET FESTIVAL EVENTS BY SEASON OF CULTURE 2017
KULNA (ALL OF US) – A UNIQUE ORIGINAL PRODUCTION
An original production created especially for Mekudeshet festival that combines inspiration from the Levantine region with a variety of musical genres.
You’ll find Lebanese rock, Yemenite blues and even an Egyptian Andalusian orchestra. The event will consist of 3 parts: a hot fashion show with the latest trends in the Middle East, live music by the Jerusalem Orchestra, and an extremely loud after-party.

FOUR URBAN CEREMONIES
Be it national, religious, private or public, Jerusalem is a city filled with ceremonies. This unique artistic event introduces a new kind of ceremonies – urban ceremonies. Discover four new ways of capturing the essence of the authentic Jerusalem experience as it is perceived daily by the modern Jerusalem resident.

MAGIC ON THE MOUNTAIN
Get inspired by the distinctively talented Lior Shoov as she steals your heart with her honesty and devotion while creating spontaneous music on instruments you had no idea existed.

BASIC ASSUMPTION – PERFORMANCE & EXPERIMENT
We are biologically designed to feel fear of new things. There’s even a name for it. It’s called Neophobia. Well, you are about to feel something entirely new. Basic Assumption is a new show that combines performance art with a scientific experience which will examine your emotions and reactions while enjoying the performance on stage. CLOSING CELEBRATION
Mekudeshet’s closing celebration will take place at Tower of David and will be dedicated to this year’s theme: Girl Power. The best female musicians from Ethiopia, Mali and all around the Middle East will be performing oriental music with a feminine groove touch. Who to expect? Ester Rada, Marina Maximilian, Khaira Arby and the Praying Mothers Ensemble.
